Floor Sanding Services
Dust-free floor sanding and refinishing for every kind of wooden floor in Enfield — from Victorian boards to herringbone parquet.
Few things transform a room as quickly as a freshly sanded wooden floor. We take worn, scratched and discoloured floors right back to fresh timber, then protect them with a finish chosen for the way you live.
We always begin with a free survey, honest advice and a fixed written quote, so you know exactly what is involved before any work begins. Extraction on every machine captures around 99% of dust at source, so your home stays clean while we work.
Specialist sanding for every floor
Different timbers and floor types need different techniques. Many jobs combine several of the services below:
Parquet floor sanding — multi-direction sanding for herringbone, chevron and block floors.
Solid wood restoration — hardwood floors taken back to bare timber and refinished.
Floorboards restoration — period pine boards cleaned up, repaired and sanded.
Gap filling between boards — draught-reducing filling with resin or timber slivers.
Wood floor staining — colour samples on your own floor before we commit.
Staircase stripping and refinishing — old paint stripped and timber stairs refinished.
Garden decking restoration — grey, slippery decking cleaned, sanded and oiled.
How we sand a floor
Preparation comes first: skirting, doorways and nearby rooms are masked, protruding nails are punched down and loose boards fixed. If boards or blocks are damaged beyond sanding, our wood floor repairs team replaces them with matched timber first.
We then sand in several passes, moving from coarse to fine abrasives, removing the old finish and levelling the surface. Edges and corners are worked by hand-held edgers so the whole floor matches.
Oil, lacquer or stain?
Hardwax oil gives a natural, matt look and is easy to touch up, while lacquer creates a hard-wearing surface that shrugs off spills and heavy traffic. If you are not sure, our guide to oil or lacquer explains the pros and cons. All our finishes are low-VOC and safe for families and pets.
Domestic and commercial floors
Most of our work is in family homes across Enfield, and we regularly work in schools, churches and community halls. Larger buildings are covered by our public spaces service, planned around term times and events.
Looking after your new floor
Light foot traffic is fine after a few hours; furniture can go back after 24–48 hours and rugs after around a week. Oiled floors stay at their best with periodic re-oiling and maintenance, which we are happy to carry out.
What makes our work different
Each project is run by an experienced craftsman, not a rotating crew of subcontractors. You get straight answers, realistic timings and a recommendation based on your floor, not on what is easiest for us. Our work is backed by £5m public liability insurance after more than a decade of sanding and finishing floors.

How long will it take?
Most single rooms are sanded and finished in one to two days, while whole ground floors take a little longer. We plan the work room by room so you can carry on living at home, and our article on how long floor sanding takes explains drying and curing times. A few simple steps beforehand, such as clearing small items and planning access, help everything run smoothly.
Every restoration comes with our 3-month service guarantee, and guide costs are listed on our prices page. Want to see the results first? Browse our recent projects.

Common questions
How long does floor sanding take?
Most single rooms are sanded and finished in one to two days. Bigger floors or extra repairs take longer, and we confirm the schedule with your quote.
Will sanding make a mess?
Our machines capture around 99% of dust at source, so there is very little to clean afterwards.
Can my floor be sanded?
Most solid floors can be sanded many times. Engineered floors usually can if the wear layer is 3 mm or more. We confirm this during the free survey.
Do I need to move out while you work?
Not usually. We plan the work room by room so you can stay at home. Water-based finishes have very little odour.

Questions about Floor Sanding
How are your prices worked out?
Prices depend on the floor area, condition, repairs needed and the finish you choose. Our price list shows typical starting prices, and we confirm everything with a fixed written quote.
How should I clean an oiled floor?
Use a soft brush or vacuum, then a barely damp mop with a wood floor soap. Avoid steam mops and bleach or multi-surface sprays. Read our care guide for a simple routine.
Are your oils and lacquers pet-friendly?
Yes. We use low-VOC oils and water-based lacquers that are safe for families and pets once cured. We suggest keeping pets out of the room for the first 24 hours, and trim claws to help the finish last.
Do I need to empty the room?
Empty the room where possible and take down curtains that reach the floor. We can help move heavy furniture if we know in advance. Our preparation checklist has more tips.
What do you need from us on the day?
We need access to a standard power socket and, ideally, parking near the property. Our machines run on domestic power, and we bring everything else with us.
Can I get a price without a visit?
Often, yes. A few clear photos and the room sizes let us give a guide price within a working day. We confirm it with a short visit before work starts, so the final quote is fixed.
What our customers say
Scratches gone
“Two dogs had left the lounge floor badly scuffed. A light abrade and new coat of lacquer has made it look new again. Useful advice on felt pads and mats as well.”
Bush Hill Park
Herringbone hallway looks stunning
“The original herringbone in our hall had years of grime and old varnish. Three days later it is flat, smooth and glowing. Everyone notices it as soon as they walk in.”
Enfield Town
Old parquet back to life
“We were ready to rip the parquet out. They replaced the damaged blocks, sanded and lacquered it, and you cannot tell where the repairs are.”
