Engineered & Solid Floor Repairs
Damaged engineered and solid wood planks replaced, re-bonded and blended in Enfield.
Engineered and solid wood floor repairs in Enfield
Engineered and solid wood floors are hardwearing, yet leaks, impact and movement can still damage individual planks. In most cases we can replace just the affected boards and blend them into the rest of the floor. This saves time, money and the disruption of a new floor.
Typical repairs
Cutting out and replacing damaged, dented or burnt planks
Fixing boards that have come away from the subfloor
Repairing water-damaged, cupped or swollen sections
Closing gaps caused by movement and fixing failed joints
Knowing your floor
Engineered boards have a real wood wear layer on a plywood core, while solid boards are timber all the way through. Knowing which you have tells us how to repair it and how much sanding the floor can take. Our article on sanding engineered floors shows you how to check.
Finishing after the repair
New planks are rarely the exact colour of a floor that has been in sunlight for years. Where needed, a full sand and refinish brings the whole floor to one consistent colour. Lightly worn oiled floors can often be refreshed with a maintenance re-oil instead.
After a leak
Water is the most common cause of damage to plank floors. Boards that have taken on water may cup, crown or swell at the joints, and dark stains can soak deep into the timber. Once the source is fixed and the floor has dried, we decide whether to sand flat or replace boards. Patience at this stage avoids repeat problems later.
How your floor is fitted
Each fitting method needs its own repair technique. We adapt our approach to the way your floor was fitted, so replacement boards sit flush and stay put. Leftover boards from the original installation make the best repairs, so let us know if you have any.

Questions about engineered & solid floor repairs
Can you repair a water-damaged floor?
Often, yes. Surface stains can usually be sanded out, while cupped or blackened boards are replaced and blended in. The floor must be fully dry first, so we take moisture readings before starting.
Will repairs stand out?
We source matching new or reclaimed timber of the same species and width. Once the floor is sanded and finished, repairs blend in. Learn more about wood floor repairs.
Will sanding wear my solid floor out?
Solid timber floors can be sanded again and again. Each sand removes only a fraction of a millimetre when done properly, so a well-kept floor will last generations.
Can engineered floors be sanded?
In most cases, yes — as long as the top wear layer is 3 mm or more. We check the thickness during the free survey, often by lifting a threshold strip or a floor vent. Our engineered floor guide explains more.
Can I get a price without a visit?
Often, yes. A few clear photos and the room sizes let us give a guide price within a working day. We confirm it with a short visit before work starts, so the final quote is fixed.
How are your prices worked out?
Prices depend on the floor area, condition, repairs needed and the finish you choose. Our price list shows typical starting prices, and we confirm everything with a fixed written quote.
