Re-Oiling & Floorcare

Maintenance re-oiling and lacquer re-coating that refresh wooden floors in Enfield without a full sand.

Re-oiling and floorcare in Enfield

A wooden floor does not need sanding every time it looks tired. As long as the finish has not worn through to bare timber, a deep clean and fresh coat of oil or lacquer can bring the floor back to life in a day. Regular maintenance also means the floor needs sanding far less often, so the wood lasts longer.

Our floorcare services

The right treatment depends on how your floor was finished:

  • Re-oiling - deep cleaning and a new coat of hardwax oil for floors that look dry, grey or patchy.

  • Lacquer re-coating - for lacquered floors: a light abrade and a fresh coat of lacquer that renews the protective layer.

When maintenance is enough

Maintenance works when the damage is in the finish. Deep scratches, black water stains or worn-through bare wood mean a full sand and refinish is needed. Damaged boards or loose blocks should be dealt with first through our wood floor repairs. Not sure? Read when to re-oil or re-coat, or ask us during a free survey.

Benefits of regular maintenance

  • Usually completed in a single day, with little disruption

  • A fraction of the cost of sanding

  • Removes less wood, so the floor lasts longer

  • Brings back colour and protection

Floorcare for homes and businesses

Maintenance is popular with homeowners who want their floor to stay looking new, and with landlords who need a quick refresh between tenants. Busy public spaces benefit too, with maintenance coats booked into quieter periods. Many of our customers book a maintenance visit every year or two, so the floor never gets to the point of needing a full sand.

Products we use

Our oils and lacquers are professional-grade products from trusted flooring manufacturers. They are low-VOC and low-odour, so they are safe for families, pets and occupied buildings. We match the product to your existing finish wherever possible, so the new coat bonds properly and looks consistent. Ask us about colour-tinted maintenance oils if your floor was originally stained.

Small marks, quick fixes

One of the big advantages of an oiled floor is that small areas can be repaired without touching the rest of the room. A scratch by the back door or a worn patch in front of the sink can often be lightly sanded, re-oiled and blended in on the same visit. Lacquer is harder to patch invisibly, so re-coats are normally done room by room. Either way, we will tell you honestly what will give the best result.

When maintenance is no longer enough, we can carry out a full restoration instead. Full restorations are backed by our three-month service guarantee.

Aftercare advice

After every maintenance visit we give you simple care instructions and recommend the right cleaning products for your finish. Our guide on caring for oiled floors covers the day-to-day routine. Typical costs are listed on our prices page.

FAQ

Common questions

How often do oiled floors need maintenance?

Busy areas usually benefit from a maintenance coat every one to three years; quieter rooms can go longer.

Can I switch from lacquer to oil?

Not directly. Oil cannot soak through lacquer, so changing finish needs a full sand back to bare wood first.

When can I walk on it again?

Usually after a few hours in socks, with furniture back after 24 to 48 hours.

Will re-oiling remove scratches?

Fine scratches in the finish disappear; deeper marks in the timber need a full sand.

Give your floor a new lease of life

Send us a photo and we will tell you if a re-oil or re-coat will do the job.

FAQ

Questions about Re-Oiling & Aftercare

All questions
How should I clean an oiled floor?

Use a soft brush or vacuum, then a barely damp mop with a wood floor soap. Avoid steam mops and bleach or multi-surface sprays. Read our care guide for a simple routine.

How are your prices worked out?

Prices depend on the floor area, condition, repairs needed and the finish you choose. Our price list shows typical starting prices, and we confirm everything with a fixed written quote.

Are your oils and lacquers pet-friendly?

Yes. We use low-VOC oils and water-based lacquers that are safe for families and pets once cured. We suggest keeping pets out of the room for the first 24 hours, and trim claws to help the finish last.

Can I get a price without a visit?

Often, yes. A few clear photos and the room sizes let us give a guide price within a working day. We confirm it with a short visit before work starts, so the final quote is fixed.

When does an oiled floor need a fresh coat?

Most homes re-oil high-traffic rooms every 12–24 months. Bedrooms often last several years. Our maintenance guide helps you judge.

Do you offer free surveys?

We visit for free, look at the floor and give you a fixed written quote. The price on the quote is the price you pay, unless you ask us to add extra work. You can book a survey online in a couple of minutes.
